Carrollton, Texas (Sept. 22, 2009)   IADŽ Director of Volleyball Ruth N. Nelson and TEAM CUP Director Becky Hughes make a special presentation to Alicia DeLay (click on newsletter) and her team for winning the inaugural IADŽ TEAM CUP on August 29. Their permanent trophy is displayed at Ursuline Academy of Dallas, and the TEAM CUP traveling trophy is displayed at IADŽ with each winning  school’s name engraved on the plate. The following schools participated in TEAM CUP 2009: Ursuline Academy, Plano West/Shepton, Carroll, Hebron, Springtown, Newman Smith, RL Turner, Irving, Lovejoy, Plano East, South Grand Prairie, Trinity Christian and DeSoto.

2010 IADŽ Team Cup will include all three levels of interscholastic teams (Varsity, JV and freshman levels). Schools will vie again for the coveted Team Cup trophy, which is presented to the school that accumulates the most points from all of their teams’  play over  the two days. Points are given for number of teams entered and finish in Pool Play and Bracket Play. Point values are placed on the finish in Pool Play, and more points are scored on the right side of Bracket Play. Only 30 schools will be selected based on the following criteria:  minimum of 2-3 teams per school (Varsity, JV, freshman or JV and 2 freshman teams); receiving entry fee and signed/written commitment for registering; demographics of best efforts for selecting teams/schools from different school districts.  Each varsity team will play the minimum required matches by UIL rules for a two-day tournament. Tournament play will consist of pool play and playoff matches.
